Henry and Julius loved trains when they were two – including trains in stories as well as toy trains. They especially loved the topic of circus trains. They can easily remember the song about circus trains: “in the first car are the lions, in the second car are the tigers … in the eighth car are the hippos.” They remember the names of the animals very well, and also the circus characters and the number of the trains.
When they played wooden trains or trains built from toy blocks, I heard they changed the lyrics of the song to “in the first car are the dogs, in the second car are the girls, in the third car are the boys …” And they counted the trains and put up different characters. Julius also made up stories about the trains, for example: “I bring teddy to see circus. There are tigers roar, hippo dance, clowns cry. I buy ice-cream for teddy and sweets for me. We love circus and we are happy.”
They learned a lot from this topic and exhibited good imagination and creativity along the way. I was so impressed by their own songs and stories. Well done, boys!
